Since he is the head of the Dark Court he needs dark emotions to keep him going but with the Summer Court and the new Winter Queen (who happens to be Keena's ex-girlfriend that he is still in love with and she is also still in love with him) working together for peace he is having a hard time finding the dark emotions he needs. He uses his blood and the tears of the Dark Faeries and mixes them together in tattoo ink so when Leslie goes to get a tattoo she uses that ink and he has control over her then. Niall falls even more in love with Leslie and wants to save her from Irial, so that puts her right in the middle of a fight between the Summer Court and the Dark Court. Leslie knows nothing about the Faeries because Ash would not tell her thinking it would keep her safe. Leslie falls in love with Niall also. Niall breaks all the rules to her get her back but is it too late and does he give up everything for nothing??

When this book was recommended I was not to sure about it since it was a YA book and yes I have said that before mainly because I guess I am not really a YA kind of person, but this book had me from the beginning and did not let go until the end. I did not completely get the story at first but then it started to make sense to me- Aislinn (Ash) is a human teenage girl who can see Faeries- all Faeries the pretty ones and the ugliest of the ugly. Her entire life her Grandmother has been telling her the same rules over and over, never look at them, don’t stare, don’t speak to them, don’t attract their attention, and don’t flinch if they touch you. Aislinn though her life was going ok even with the Faeries all around her every day, she went to high school and hung out with her friends like any other normal teenage girl until she noticed that the Faeries were coming around more and that there were a lot more of them. Seth, her guy friend that she likes more than just as friends’ lives in a converted train car, she liked hanging out there because the Faeries can not be around iron so she felt safe there. One day she overhead some Faeries asking each other “Do you think she is the one?’. Around the same time she noticed a guy working really hard to get her to notice him, turns out he is Keenan the Summer King. His Mother, Beira is the Winter Queen and for years has been keeping the days longer and the weather colder. Keenan has dated many human women hoping that one of them would be his Summer Queen and with Aislinn he thinks he has found her. If Aislinn is indeed the one he is looking for then Beira will stop at nothing to destroy her to keep Keenan from regaining his powers and full strength. With her relationship finally getting started with Seth she does not want anything to hurt it or interrupt it but Keenan wants her after he finds out for sure that she is the true Summer Queen. All her life she has been told to stay away from the Faeries and now she learns that she is to be their Queen and co-leader. She has to decide if she wants to stay with Seth or go help Keenan, thinking that her ultimate choice will hurt the one she loves or the other male that is dead set on protecting his people.

JR Ward- Lover Mine

Book 8- Black Dagger Brotherhood---Oh John Matthew!! I really enjoyed this book, loved the story, loved the love and the need that he carried with him while he was looking for Xhex. What I did not really care for is how the story was written and let me explain that- Wrath's story- the LOVE was there- the story was there- the HEAT was there and it was the same for the first maybe 5 books- Wrath, Rhage, Zsadist, Butch and Vishous- now their stories were flat out sexy! Even with the not so interesting Lesser parts to the books- you felt these warriors. I think it was with Phury and Rehv's book that things changed to more of a war like feeling, yes there was a love story in each of these books but not like the first ones. So what I am getting at is- WOW there was a lot of crap going on in this book- JM & Xhex, Qhuinn and Blay, Darius and is back story, the ghost story (seriously?), Lash and his seriously F'd up life and Payne & her problems- just a lot going on!!

JM and Xhex, to me they were meant to be together and the book explained so much more about their "real" connection. Their bond was so strong even with him not being able to speak them. Her learning sign language- awww so sweet. Him getting her name tattooed on his back when he thought he lost her forever- awww double sweetness!! I could feel the love between the two, I don't know I just wanted MORE, can't really explain it more than just MORE. Xhex's need to run and him knowing her need to run but to want her anyway was great, but what was even better was her finally owning up to the fact that he needed her just as much as she needed him. Ok the mating ceremony this is where the more comes into play- her whole day was flipped on its ass and she was just ho-hum lets go on and do it- What? Wait? I would need some explaining from two people- Hello No'One and Tohr??? He brings in the red dress and she just pops out news like that and they continue to get ready?? MORE??? Loved it when he signed for her while she was on the stairs- tear jerker!!
Ok Qhuinn and Blay- No I want them together, I want them as Brothers one day Mated- to each other!! Qhuinn acting like an ass and Blay just lost over him made this storyline even better. I did enjoy Blay going out with Sax and that he took care of Sax after he was beaten so badly. For Blay to open his eyes and realize that maybe Qhuinn was never going to be his and to do something for himself was a great moment but an even better moment was when Qhuinn woke up and realized what he probably lost. His best friend and the person he actually does love. I look forward to their book- bring on the man love!
Lash- ekk OMG what his body went through was so gross!! Ward stuck with him being bad from day one- there is no redeeming quality in that demon, even when he was just a vamp he was so ugly. What he did to Xhex was horrible and I think she should have tortured him a little before he ate the big one. We all know she has it in her to make them suffer- umm Hello she made that one dude gut himself first!!
Should I even go into the "ghost" story- saw it coming a mile away and I was kinda pissed with no closure in that storyline- she sees him on tv and thinks "wow he is still alive, umm ok I have things to do now" Really? No, where has he been all these years? No, Is he still nutso?? No, why didn't he try to find me?? Nothing!
Tohr and JM... FINALLY making up and becoming a family again- whew it is about time!!
Payne and Wrath fighting daily- good for them. Payne getting hurt- well I didn't see that coming as a way to get her to the other side. The entire "Brother Mine" and Sister scene was wonderful- yeah I cried! Those two working together are going to kick some serious ass.
Overall I really did like the book, I HATE waiting so long in between each book. The main thing for me that was lacking in this book were the actual Brothers- yes they made small appearances here and there but again I wanted MORE. More Zsadist- that is what I want more of- can never have too much of that vamp.

Lara Adrian- Shades of Midnight (book 7)

Deep in the wilderness of Alaska there is something killing and sucking the blood of the locals. Alexandra Maguire is a young woman who flies her small plane to the remote areas delivering supplies. Alex happens upon a horrible scene where a family has been killed. Another local hears about the killings and puts it on the internet where Gideon finds it. The Order sends one of its newest members to Alaska to check out the scene and to see if it is a Rogue killing people in Alaska. Kade is the Breed Male that goes to see what is going on, he was born and raised in an Alaskan Darkhaven. Kade left home for his own personal reasons that he will have to face once he goes back. He gets into the small town of Harmony during a town meeting and see Alex for the first time, he hires her to take him to the murder sites. He keeps what he is from her but finds out there is more to Alex than meets the eye. She holds a few dark secrets of her own and might know more about the Breed than she is letting on. The members of the Order come to help Kade once they find out that there is a very powerful Breed male (they think it could be Dragos) controlling people and using an empty mine as a new lab. A few things get blown up, a few things get turned around and a few people get killed. I absolutely LOVED Kade- 6'5" dark black hair and grey eyes- jeez (again) what is there NOT to love about him and a plus he is a sensitive male- actually cares about others!! Sounds pretty close to perfect to me!!

Lara Adrian- Ashes of Midnight (book 6)

This book was better for me the second time I read it, I think the first time I read it so quickly I missed a few things. Ok to start with I really liked Andreas, we met him in Tegan’s book for the first time and I was hoping he would show back up. Andreas is a Breed male that is the leader of the Berlin Darkhaven, he’s pretty much a playboy that has no trouble with the women. For the past few years Andreas has been keeping company with a human female by the name of Helene, she owns a high class brothel in Berlin. One of her girls goes missing so she checks into it for Andreas but when she comes back with the name William Roth all hell breaks loose. Roth turns Helene into a Minion and sends her to Andreas with a team of swat like Breed males. They kill everyone in the Darkhaven but Andreas was out of town so when he came home he found his entire family dead with Helene waiting on him. She told him who sent her and then was killed. Each Breed male carries a special ability that they get from their human mother- Andreas’ is Pyrokinesis and he thought he had it under control for the last 30 years until he saw his family all murdered. His pyro goes out of control and he burns down his entire Darkahven, now everyone thinks he was there so they all think he is dead. One by one he kills off all the men that were involved in the murder saving Roth for last. Andreas and Roth are no strangers- thirty years ago Roth thought Andreas disrespected him so he set out to destroy Andreas. Roth is married to Claire, who was dating and in love with Andreas thirty years ago. Roth tried to kill Andreas and that was when his pyro first happened to him, so to save Claire he left and Roth swooped in to comfort Claire and they ended up getting married. For thirty years they only saw each other to exchange blood. Andreas finds Claire while he is looking for Roth- he shows up at her estate and kills her guards. She tries to run from him but discovers she knows who he is- while his pyro is on full he lights up in flames and can throw balls of fire. She helps him to her house and he heels but he does not realize that she is not with Roth as a bonded couple usually are. She does not believe what he says about her husband but soon realizes that Andreas is telling the truth about everything. Claire helps Andreas and the Order find Roth who they now know is working with Dragos. Andreas and Claire make it back to the US to search for Roth and Dragos, using her blood bond she is able to feel when she is close to Roth. With the help of a few other Breedmates they track down the underground lab where Roth is now hiding. Andreas goes all crazy pyro on everything and the warriors that are with him barely make it out alive before he blows the entire place up. He is so far gone with the pyro it takes Renata to mind zap him to calm him down. Once he comes back he and Claire move to her families’ estate in the US. The Order offers him a job but as of now I don’t know what his answer was- OK I know I rambled on and on with this book- so sorry!!! But I really did enjoy this story!!!!!!

Lara Adrian- Veil of Midnight (book 5)

Nikolai, a ruthless warrior who loves his weapons is the main character in this book. The blonde haired warrior is always the first with a laugh; he loves to joke with the mated warriors about being whipped. He is sent to Montréal to search for an elusive Gen One Breed male to warn him of the Gen One murders that the Breed is investigating. While there asking around in the local clubs he notices a woman listening to his questions and when she leaves the clubs he goes after her only to be caught in a trap set by the Gen One and his guards. She is a Breedmate that works for Yukat, the local Gen One. Her name is Renata, since she is a Breedmate she has a special ability- hers is a psychic ability that when she uses it she is able to take down humans and Breed alike with only a thought. Niko does not know that she is being held against her will by Yukat, he thinks she is his blood bonded mate. Renata stays because of a young Breedmate named Mira, who if you look into her mirrored eyes you can see a small glimpse of your future. Yukat is murdered and Niko is accused of the murder, he is taken away by the Breed Law Enforcement Agency by a Breed male that is working with Dragos. Renata breaks him out and they work together to search for Mira, or that is what she thinks they are doing, Niko has his orders to find Dragos and all associates. Renata is shot and wounded so she drinks Niko’s blood to help her heal. They find Mira but Dragos and the others get away again. Renata and Niko complete their blood bonding and become mates with Mira living in the Order’s compound with them.

Lara Adrian- Midright Rising (book 4)

Oh poor Rio, he has had so much trouble. In Lucan’s book he was hurt really bad in an explosion, they didn’t think he would live through it with all the wounds and head trauma. One side of his body and face are covered with horrible scars now. Come to find out it was his mate Eva that sold out the Order, she was responsible for the warriors being in the warehouse that night. She thought that if she had Lucan killed and Rio wounded he would leave the Order and be with just her. When her traitor ass was found out and he unannounced her she kills herself in front of him. After months of therapy he finally is able to go back on patrol to help the Order. The whole group (except Giedon) goes to Prague to search for the Ancient’s tomb. Once they find the cave that was the Ancient’s tomb and discover it empty they head back to Boston leaving Rio behind to destroy it. Rio stays for his own reasons, he wants to kill himself and stop his suffering. He feels guilty for what Eva did and thinks that the other members of the Order blame him. After five long months he is still living in the cave when a human woman, Dylan Alexander finds her way into the cave. Dylan is a Breedmate but she does not know what that means yet, she knows she has a birthmark plus she has a special ability that allows her to see dead people. The spirits talk to her but they can not hear her when she talks back to them. Dylan is led to the cave by Eva’s spirit, who asks her to “help him”. Dylan goes to the cave twice, on her second trip she takes pictures to send back to her boss at the rag tabloid newspaper she works for. Rio catches her and when she gets away from the cave her tracks her down. He then kidnaps Dylan and takes her to Berlin where he explains to her what she is and what he really is, then they fly back home to the US. Once back in Boston their feelings for each other start to blossom (even though doesn’t know why she would love someone that was all scared up) and he goes to New York with her with his orders from Lucan to wipe her memory plus everyone else’s that she has told about the caves. While home in NY she finds out her Mom is back in the hospital, she escapes Rio and goes to the hospital to see her in the Cancer Ward. Her Moms boss is very interested in Dylan and turns out to be the evil vampire that the Order is looking for now. Her Mom kills herself instead of telling him where Dylan is. He finds her anyway and he kidnaps her. Rio comes to save her and Dragos gets away again. She goes back to the Compound with Rio and they are mated for life now.

Lara Adrian- Midnight Awakening (book 3)

What is it about these tall, mysterious men that drive me crazy??? Holy cow- I loved this book- Tegan is just unbelievably sexy to me. He reminds me of a few other characters from other series that I just adore. Ok, Tegan is a Gen-One vampire; he is one of the first generation vampires that came from the Ancients and a human woman known as a Breedmate. He was part of the select few Gen-Ones that were with Lucan when he formed the Order. He is a ruthless killer and a strong warrior that has a reputation for being heartless even to the other warriors in the Order. He had a Breedmate hundreds of years ago that was kidnapped and tortured then sent back to him and then finally killed. So Tegan has lots of reasons to be so closed off from the world.
Elise Chase is a Breedmate that lives in one of the Darkhavens in Boston; she is the widow of a Breed male that was killed by a Rogue five years ago. In the last book her son Cameron was killed after he got hooked on the drug Crimson and turned Rogue. So Elise left her home and went searching for the people or vampire that she thought had caused the death of her son. Tegan found her after she killed a Minion and was covered with blood. Every Breedmate has a special ability and hers is hearing the thoughts of everyone- humans and Breed alike, the downfall of this ability is that when she is out in public all the voices come to her at once causing massive migraines and nosebleeds. Tegan also has a similar ability but he has to touch the other person to be able to feel their emotions. Both of them fight hard not to fall in love, he is mean to her and says things to her that are inappropriate in front of the other warriors after he brings her back to the Compound. She uses him for his blood and bosses him around by using her late husbands influence. While she admits her feelings first it does not take long for him to come around and realize that he wants so much more in his life and the top priority is protecting her and telling her how he truly feels. But honestly in my opinion if I was her I would not have let the warrior out of my site after seeing him in the little tiny black swim trunks that he was wearing in the pool scene!!

Lara Adrian- Kiss of Crimson (book 2)

Dante is part of the Order. The Order is tasked with seeking out Rogue vampires who are consumed with bloodlust and eliminating them in order to protect the human and vampire races. Dante despises the Rogues and isn’t sure if he prefers a female vein at his mouth or the feel of titanium-edged steel in his hand. Dante is out hunting Rogues when he comes upon a group of Darkhaven youth with a couple of human females. Darkhaven’s are the compounds that protect breed vampires. These youth are being attacked by a huge Rogue and when Dante let’s his titanium steel knife fly, the Rogue is not affected in the normal way. Dante gives chase to the Rogue and eventually is able to kill him. However, not without being shot by a sniper and injured severely. Dante makes it to a veterinary clinic where he comes face to face with Tess. Due to Dante’s injuries, he is forced to take blood from Tess, not realizing that she is a Breedmate (human females who are able to conceive Breed babies). Dante and Tess develop a bond that leads them through dangerous situations involving the drug “Crimson.” Tess’ boyfriend was tasked by a vampire seeking power with creating the drug and distributing it to the young vampire population. Dante discovers the truth about Tess’ boyfriend and due to his partial blood bond with Tess,he sets out to protect her from harm. Dante had no interest in taking a breedmate, but finds himself falling in love with Tess. Tess has the breedmate power (or sixth sense) that gives her the ability to heal. With Tess’ help the Order is able to put a stop to the Crimson manufacturing and distribution. Dante and Tess complete their bloodbond and become mated for life. Gabrielle's hidden talent (unknown to her) is to be drawn to where Breeds and Rogues are. As a professional photographer, she is drawn to photograph the dwellings of the other world. This ability also takes her to an alley where she witnesses a group of Rogues murdering a human. Now in the middle of it all, they are after her. Lucan steps in, to handle the situation and protect Gabrielle from the danger but finds he has a harder time handling his own need for her. She touches his very soul with feelings he has never known and never wanted The last thing he wants is a mate. He must focus only on his mission and being a warrior that his people need. The more he tries to get her out of his mind the more she creeps in. Gabrielle wants to fight the feelings too but finds she needs Lucan not only to save her life, but save her heart.

Patricia Briggs- Silver Borne (book 5)

Trouble found Mercy; she didn’t even have to go looking for it. The Fae are after her in this book, she has something the Fae Winter Queen wants and she is willing to kill anyone or anything to get it. This book held my attention for two solid nights, I could not put it down, the bags under my eyes were horrible. Mercy and Adam are still together but they are “dating” for the sake of the pack. Mercy knows that most of them do not accept her as Adam’s mate and second in command so she is willing to do what she can to keep the peace for right now. During one of their dates, someone gets into her mind just to put doubt in there about her relationship with Adam. Since Adam claimed her she is linked to him plus his pack so they did not have trouble slipping in to put in the doubt. She tries to hide it from Adam but he knows something is wrong with her so she explains what is going on but during this time a TV reality show invades her garage looking for Adam saying there is a bounty on his head. Once they figure out that the Fae are behind it even more trouble has unfolded for Mercy. Phin, who in a previous book loaned her a book about the Fae, has turned up missing. The evil Queen kidnaps Gabriel and with the help of Zee, Phin’s Grandmother, Samuel, and Mercy they go to rescue him- oh and she also takes along Adam’s daughter, Jessica. I’m jumping around a little here but while they were out on their date, Samuel did something that was so out of character for him that by the time Mercy got to him his Wolf was barely hanging on to his human form. Once he was home safe he retreated to his Wolf form and stayed there. The Fae burned down Mercy’s home while some of the pack was on watch; they did not tell Adam she was not in there so he went in after her, Adam and Ben were burned very badly but the kicker to all of that was that a member or two took this time to challenge him for Pack Leader. There was a fight and someone won but I’m not telling who- you will have to read for yourself- it’s good too!! Samuel's life is starting to look up towards the end of this book, I so want him to be happy- he needs it!! So, I did not like how this book ended, no lie I actually turned my Kindle over looking for the next page (like it ate it or something) then when I could not go any further in the book I went to B&N to pick up the book to read the ending- YEP that is how it ended- not really hanging more like just ENDED!! I checked the website and yes there is another book- Thank goodness because I was not a happy camper!!

Patricia Briggs- Bone Crossed (book 4)

Well guess who trouble found? Again!! Yep that would be Mercy. With her relationship finally starting and going slowly (which is the right way for her) Mercy thinks everything is going smoothly in her life until there is a knock at her front door (her Mom) and then Stefan “drops” out of thin air into her living room. Stefan is burned and almost dead- really dead this time. With Adam and the packs help Stefan recovers enough to tell them what had happened to him in the past few months since he had been missing. Surprises for Mercy are happening left and right in this book- a friend from college comes to find her after seeing the article in the paper about Mercy. Amber has a ghost problem and thinks Mercy can help her with getting it to leave her and her family alone. Everyone agrees to have Mercy leave town and go to Spokane while Marisla is looking to kill her. Stefan warns Mercy of the only vampire that lives in that area and he is one of the worst vampires out there. James Blackwood is an evil vampire that does not allow any other vampires into his area. Mercy goes to stay with Amber to see if she can help and who happens to be the dinner guest at Amber’s house- yep James Blackwood. With the ghost still haunting the family and Blackwood feeding off of everyone, Mercy calls for Stefan. Stefan tells Mercy it is time to go home- Blackwood has bonded himself to Mercy so Stefan feeds from her and feeds her his blood to override Blackwood’s bond but now she is bonded to Stefan. Once home Mercy explains things to Adam and Samuel- one wolf takes it a lot better than the other one. Mercy is kidnapped and taken back to Blackwood, while there she discovers what he really wants from her and who was controlling the ghost that were haunting Amber’s family. I really can’t say much else without giving away the ending so I will leave it with this- I am looking forward to the 5th book to see what kind of trouble finds Mercy and how she gets out of it.

Patricia Briggs- Iron Kissed (book 3)

Well love is still slowly blooming but is it with Samuel or Adam?? Mercy is still looking over her shoulder for the danger that she knows is coming but when her good friend and old boss is arrested for murder she puts her own life on hold to help prove his innocence. Zee and Uncle Mike use Mercy to help them track down the human or creature that has murdered seven faes from the Fae reservation that is close to them. She is tracked down and hunted by the Gray Lords (the heads of the Fae community) for sticking her nose into fae business. Samuel is still living in her guest room and working at the hospital in the ER department. During a folk music festival they meet Tim (a human) and Mercy recognizes his scent from the house of the man that Zee was accused of killing. He is in an organization that is against the Fae and invites Mercy to a local meeting. While there she discovers a fae in the mix, who then chases her home and tries to kill her. She gets away with the help of Adam and his pack. Tim learns that Samuel is not really her boyfriend and asks her to his place for dinner where he makes her drink from a magical goblet and she is forced to obey everything he tells her to do. Like I stated before- since she is a Walker most magic does not work on her but the magic is so strong from the Fae goblet is does work. Tim does horrible things to Mercy and everything is caught on tape. Adam tears Tim to pieces after Mercy killed him. Mercy is so traumatized that she stays in coyote form until Ben helps her and Adam both see the truth about the situation. Zee is freed and Mercy has a talk with both Samuel and Adam- she picks who she wants to be her mate- Finally!!

Patricia Briggs- Blood Bound (book 2)

Mercy and Adam are still working together and now they have a sorcerer/vampire to hunt down. Mercy is friends with a local vampire named Stefan who owns a VW van that he had painted to look like the Mystery Machine (too cute). Mercy soon finds out that not all the vampires in town like having a Walker so close. In years past the vampires killed Walkers since their magic did not work on them. Stefan is in the seethe that is lead by the head vampire Marsilia. Stefan and Andre are two of the oldest and closet vampires that she has she is actually the maker of both vampires. Mercy and Stefan go to meet the sorcerer/vampire and he controls Stefan’s mind and feeds from Mercy while she is in coyote form. Mercy searches out the evil vampire to keep him from killing more innocent humans and to find out who is maker was. When Stefan, Ben (werewolf), Samuel and Adam go missing, Mercy has to team up with Andre to locate them. With a little fae magic Mercy is able to kill the sorcerer and free the others. When Mercy takes other matters into her own hands she has a whole lot of trouble coming her way. Samuel is living with Mercy but that has not stopped Adam from trying to claim what he thinks is his. Mercy must make a decision between the two males but picking one will hurt the other so what is she to do- follow her heart to an old love or follow it to a new and growing love that she feels but doesn’t completely understand?

Patricia Briggs- Moon Called (book 1)

This series was recommended to my daughter from one of her friends so I thought I might give it a try- the main female character is Mercedes “Mercy” Thompson. Mercy is a “walker” which means that she is a shape shifter and that most magic does not affect her. Mercy can only shift into the form of a coyote. Her mother is human but her father (who she never knew) was a Native American Indian who she received her gift from. Her human mother could not handle her so she sent her to live with a distant family member who happened to be a werewolf. Mercy was raised in the North American pack that is lead by Bran the main Alpha werewolf for all of North America. While living in the pack she falls in love with Bran’s son Samuel, who asks her to run away with him so they can be together. She leaves the pack when she is 16 years old due to Bran’s urging and moves in with her mother and new family. After college Mercy moves and meets an older man named Zee who gives her a job as a mechanic. Otherworld creatures start coming out to the public and Mercy learns that her boss is part of the Fae community- not everyone is happy about the Faes coming out so Zee sales the shop to Mercy and he retires. Since Mercy is a Walker/coyote her sense of smell is better than humans and she can smell other beings- she has friends that are ghost, faes (which are not always fairies) and vampires. The Alpha male in her town is Adam, who built his house on the property behind Mercy’s trailer. Adam is hard on Mercy since she is female and not a werewolf. Things happen in this story that brings Adam and Mercy closer so they can work together. With all the trouble surrounding Mercy, Bran sends Samuel to watch over her and to protect her. Having two very dominate males watching over her and both vying for her love and attention Mercy has her hands full. Mercy likes being an independent woman but knows she needs the protection that a pack can offer but knows she will probably never be fully welcomed into the pack even if Adam states that she is his mate. Mercy finds out that not all humans or werewolves can be trusted or even around you without being dangerous.

Alexandra Ivy- Beyond the Darkness

Salvatore Giuliani, the King of the Weres, is not having a great day. He gets knocked out, kidnapped, then wakes up hours later in a tunnel with Levet. To me that scene is one of the funniest in the whole book. I just adore Levet- downside of this book is he is barely in it. So we know from the previous books that Salvatore was working with the DNA of the female Weres to keep them from shifting during the full moon so they could sustain a full term pregnancy- well there was a litter of four female purebloods born 30 years ago and he has been looking for them. They located two who are now mated with the vampires- Styx and Jagr. Salvatore finds the third sister and guess what- yep she is his mate- don’t cha just love it when they are mated?? Harley is the third sister, she has been held captive by Caine, a pretty crazy Cur, for the last 30 years, the whole time being told how horrible the King is and how he killed her sisters. Caine thinks he is going to be turned into a pureblood Were with the help of his crazy Master (Briggs) and his Master’s Master (Demon Lord) - you following me?? Salvatore gets one whiff of Harley and he is a goner- he follows her, gets trapped, she talks to him after Caine told her not too so Caine traps them together, Levet rescues them so now they are on the run. Salvatore and Briggs have a long nasty history that only complicates things for Salvatore- he is trying his best to woo Harley. Salvatore gets help from the vampires; Harley meets one of her sisters, Darcy. King Salvatore is such an arrogant man but you can read the honest and true feelings that he is developing for Harley. Of course if takes her longer to come around to the mating than it does him, which I don’t understand why- again me + him= white on rice!! He’d only have to ask me once to be his Queen!! Now Tane made an appearance in this book- Yum-O his book is next and I can not wait- looking forward to his smartass mouth!!!

He was imprisoned and tortured by an evil female vampire for 300 years for crimes that he had no memory of, he bares the scares and memories of those long painful times and just how he sought his revenge. Coming to the United States, Jagr remained alone and kept to himself but was a member of Viper’s clan and also was under the leadership of Styx. Styx’s mate Darcy was separated from her three sisters at birth but was able to locate one sister, Regan. Regan a strong female Were has been enslaved to a torturing Imp her entire life, 30 long years she has been kept in a small silver cage. With the help of Salvatore she escapes her hell but sets out on a journey alone to seek revenge on the Imp that mistreated her for so long. Styx orders Jagr to St. Louis to find his sister mate to make Darcy happy. A local pack of Curs are after Regan so Jagr and Levet have their hands full protecting Regan and trying to convince her to come with them back to Chicago. Regan is wounded in a fight with a Cur so Styx returns her to Chicago to heal, Jagr also returns alone to Chicago. Regan gets the independence that she longs for but is it what she really wants? With the help and love of family and friends Regan opens her eyes and heart to what she wants most in her life- Jagr.  My Rating: 4.5

Morgana, the Queen of the Fairies killed her brother and has been killing all of her brother’s relatives for hundreds of years because her Seer said her destiny was to die by the hands of her brother King Arthur’s relative. Anna and Cezar are on the run from the hit men or hit fairies that were sent to kill Anna. Being alone for 200 years has Anna afraid to admit the truth about what she honestly feels for Cezar. He has never forgotten Anna and is willing to risk his life to protect her from Morgana but in the end it is Anna who opens up her heart and risks her life to save the vampire that she loves.  My Rating: 4

Styx a fierce warrior vampire who has been known to leave a river of blood behind him. For the last five hundred years of his very long life he has lived a simple monk-like life serving the Anasso. When the old Anasso is killed Viper more or less guilts Styx into taking the job as the new Anasso. He and his guards known as the Ravens have been serving the Anasso for years and are even more feared than the actual old vampire. Salvatore the new Pureblood King of the werewolves comes to Chicago looking for a human who can help him with his pack, to keep the wolves’ inline Styx kidnaps the woman to negotiate with Salvatore. Darcy Smith has always considered herself far from normal- being shuffled from foster home to foster home she finally has enough and runs away to fend for herself. This vegetarian bartender’s life is totally flipped upside down when two men start fighting over her. Kidnapped by one and hunted by the other. All her answers to her life can only be answered by one but all her happiness in the future depends on the other one. When the truth comes out will she be able to accept what she truly is and will she be able to open her heart to someone that loves her for who and what she really is?  My Rating: 4.5

Alexandra Ivy- Embrace the Darkness

Viper-who is more than 1000 years old, is the leader of his vampire clan- the Clan Chief in Chicago. Only one vampire is higher ranked than Viper and that is the Anasso. The Anasso is the oldest ranking vampire, what he says is law to all vampires. Shay is a Shalott demon that Viper met when she saved his life while they were both fighting the witches to help Dante and Abby. A Shalott demon’s blood is a very powerful aphrodisiac for vampires and is the reason the Shalott demons were thought to be extinct. Shay was sold into slavery to the witches by a Troll by the name of Evan who holds her curse. If Evan dies then Shay dies but he is still able to sell Shay to the highest bidder. Once the witches did not own Shay anymore she was put back up on the auction block and was bought by Viper, who could not get the demon out of his mind. Thinking that owning her as a slave would help him get over his obsession of Shay but once he bought her other demons started chasing her. Viper’s old friend Styx was one of the demons after Shay. Viper and Shay work together to find out who or what is after her. Shay has had a long unhappy life alone and is not willing to open her heart to trust Viper, her only friend is a gargoyle named Levet.  In the end Viper discovers who wanted Shay and the reasons behind the death of her parents and her curse. Once Shay opens up to the silver haired vampire she finds that love can actually happen in her life.  My Rating: 4.5

Alexandra Ivy- When Darkness Comes

I love funny vampire books and this one had me cracking up. The arrogance of the vampires is hilarious. This book has it all witches, a Goddess, vampires, demons & zombies! Most of my favorite things to read about. Dante is a slave- yep slave! He was trapped by witches to protect the Phoenix, a mystical being that protects good and evil. The good beings want it to keep the evil away and the evil want it just because they are evil!! Abby is a human who works for the Chalice that holds the Phoenix but of course she has no idea what or who she works for. Dante is cursed to protect the Phoenix from everything evil. This is a fast paced book that keeps you very involved- Abby and Dante have to search out the witches that have cursed them both so they are running around Chicago looking for a coven of witches. A very evil “spirit” is using humans to find Abby. From the beginning you know that Dante has it bad for Abby but she doesn’t think she is deserving of such a beautiful man. He changes her mind pretty darn quickly!!
