Richelle Mead - Succubus Dreams

Some days, a girl just can’t catch a break……especially when the girl in question is Georgina Kincaid, a shape-shifting succubus who gets her energy from seducing men. First there’s her relationship with gorgeous bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, which is unsatisfying on a number of levels. It’s not just that they can’t have sex in case Georgina inadvertently kills him (generally a turn-off for most guys). Lately, even spending time together is a challenge. Seth's obsessed with finishing his latest novel, and Georgina's under demonic orders to mentor the new (and surprisingly inept) succubus on the block. Then there are the dreams. Someone, or something, is preying on Georgina at night, draining her energy, and supplying eerie visions of her future. Georgina seeks answers from Dante, a dream interpreter with ties to the underworld, but his flirtatious charm only leaves her more confused—especially as the situation with Seth reaches crisis point. Now Georgina faces a double challenge—rein in her out-of-control love life, and go toe-to-toe with an enemy capable of wreaking serious havoc among mankind. Otherwise, Georgina, and the entire mortal world, may never sleep easy again…Succubus Dreams limelight on the forbidden love of the heart relationship that is now established between Georgina and the shy, handsome author, Seth. The third in this paranormal romance series, Georgina comes to terms with the actuality that she truly wants Seth to be a part of her life, but never a part of her world. He fills an emotional closeness that brings her a delightful contentment of ecstasy without the physical intimacy. As a succubus, Georgina must answer to her higher authority and with it comes not only another world but another endless burden of perplex dilemma. Love is never simplistic and in the end, takes its toll on these two hearts as an innocent third party steps in to establish the famous term...... Love Triangle
On a personal note, as the ending pages of this book unfolded and the unexpected twists were unraveled, I was filled with emotion for the characters and kept texting poor Wendy all evening with my outraged anger. As in real life, not everything has a HEA. Her response to me, "keep reading" and so I shall. Next review #4, Succubus Heat.  My Rating - 4

Christine Feehan- Dark Magic (book 4)

Young Savannah Dubrinsky was a mistress of illusion, a world-famous magician capable of mesmerizing millions. But there was one-Gregori, the Dark One-who held her in terrifying thrall. Whose cold silver eyes and heated sensuality sent shivers of danger, of desire, down her slender spine.
With a dark magic all his own, Gregori-the implacable hunter, the legendary healer, the most powerful of Carpathian males-whispered in Savannah's mind that he was her destiny. That she had been born to save his immortal soul. And now, here in New Orleans, the hour had finally come to claim her. To make her completely his. In a ritual as old as time . . . and as inescapable as eternity.
My thoughts: I was looking forward to this book, I liked Gregori from the first book but I was expecting more from him. He is the "Dark One" , the one everyone feared but he was almost soft in this book. He knew for 25 years that Savannah was his lifemate but he thought he had manipulated the course of events to make her his lifemate. When Raven, Savannah's mother was pregnant he gave her his blood and being the healer for his people he pushed his blood into the baby, he thought he "made" her need him, made her his lifemate through his so called evil ways.  But fate had plans for him anyway and she was actually his true lifemate. When a Carpathian female turns 18 males come to try to claim them as their lifemates, when she turned 18, Gregori came to her and she begged him to give her 5 years in the human world to grow and live as a woman, he gave her almost 5 full years but came to her when he could not hold out any longer. She tried to deny her feelings for him and he tried to hide his true self from her but in the end they both realized that they are true lifemates, the other half that make each whole. Savannah was never a whining female who was "oh poor pitiful me" and she gave as good as she got in this book so that is why I like her, she was strong enough to handle the hardest, most lethal Carpathian male in this series.  My Rating: 4

Christine Feehan- Dark Gold (book 3)

Was he a man…Or a miracle? Alexandria Houton would sacrifice anything-even her life-to protect her orphaned little brother. But when both encountered unspeakable evil in the swirling San Francisco mists, Alex could only cry to heaven for their deliverance…   And out of the darkness swooped Aidan Savage, a golden being more powerful, more mysterious, than any other creature of the night. The ageless Carpathian male snatched them from a hideous fate. But was Aidan a miracle…or a monster? Alex's salvation…or her sin? If she surrendered to Aidan's savage, unearthly seduction-gave him the color, the light, the family he craved-would Alex truly save her brother? Or sacrifice more than her life?
My thoughts: I liked this book, Alex is the female lead and the poor thing had such a hard life, her parents died when she was a teenager leaving her to raise her two year old brother all alone. One night when Alex was on a job interview dinner she was kidnapped by a Rogue vampire. He also took her younger brother to use against her. She told her brother that someone would save them, a golden angel and that is where Aidan comes into the book. He saves them both and notices that he starts to see colors which means he found his true mate. Aidan is the only Carpathian that has had human companions around him for years. His housekeeper and her husband have been with him since she was born and before that her parents took care of Aidan's daily business. While Marie and Stefan take care of the boy, Aidan takes care of Alex and she is changed over to a Carpathian. When she becomes aware of what has happened she is in denial and thinks that they can not possibly be mates for life. Alex tries to date other men but becomes aware that it is Aidan she wants. More Rogue vampires come into their lives and the boy is kidnapped again but Aidan is a Hunter and handles things his way with a little help from Gregori.  My Rating: 4.5

Sherrilyn Kenyon - No Mercy

Live fast, fight hard and if you have to die then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there's a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she's ever faced before.
Shapeshifter Dev Peltier has stood guard at the front of Sanctuary for almost two hundred years and in that time, he's seen it all. Or so he thought. Now their enemies have discovered a new source of power- one that makes a mockery of anything faced to date.
The war is on and Dev and Sam are guarding ground zero. But in order to win, they will have to break the most cardinal of all rules and pray it doesn't unravel the universe as we know it.

Since the first of the Dark Hunter series, Devereaux Aubert Peltier has slid in and out of our minds, intriguing us with his jesting wit, sarcastic charm, and lighthearted attitude. Always teasing us with bits of his private personality traits, but never giving away any valuable information as to what the real were-hunter was like, until now. The book unfolds with the well know Sanctuary's reopening after a brutal battle between paranormal species that left the Peltier clan's beloved parents dead, and the remaining siblings working to move on with life. Always stationed as their protector at the door of Sanctuary, Dev keeps all away that should not enter. This is his rule not only for Sanctuary, but for his own heart. Anguish from harsh memories are wounds that never heal. With time they only fester for Dev with torment and guilt the farther he tries to push them aside. Secrets are revealed to past questions that all Dark Hunter fans are dying to know. Empty spots left wide open are now filled with answers and closure, yet new paths unlocked and spread before us show only a small portion of what is to come.Speckled with an array of characters from several previous Dark Hunter books, it is brisk paced, flowing with action, and never disappointing with its (little bit naughty) sex scenes.

My thoughts on No Mercy, I loved most of it. Loved Dev and was very excited about Ash showing up in the book. It was a very fast paced book that I could hardly put down. Dev was always carrying the burden of looking out after his entire family and the guilt from his family members dying in the past. I liked the new Dark Hunters that were introduced in this book, I think the books are too far apart but that seems to be with every series now. With Sam I expected her to be a real hard ass and just super tough on Dev since she is an Amazon, a queen too, but she truly cared for him from the very beginning. I thought she was strong and really thought that she was doing the right thing for him. Oh and then there is Nick, what a sweet thing he did at the end, I just hope his story comes out soon and he finds what he needs in his life. I want him to realize that he is loved and he can love again- just forgive Ash already!!
My Rating: 5

Dev has shot to the top of my favorites list, he's a smartass and I love it. This was a good story with enough action that wasn't boring and I'm very happy to see Ash.. So many people said he would be gone, I'm glad he's still in charge, I was also right that Artie and Nick would get together even if it just sexually YUCK!  I'm still mad at Nick, I don't understand how he can still treat Ash the way he does. How he tries to turn the DH's against him. Oh, Sam was so tight I love a strong woman that's still a woman, you almost started to feel that Stryker isn't as evil as he appears.  So it looks like we will be getting some half wolf/half bear cubs soon thanks to Savitar. Good to know the Dogs of War are not a side deal, I would have missed hearing about the DH's and the WH's.

Christine Feehan- Dark Desire (book 2)

The stranger silently summoned her across the continents, across the seas. He whispered of eternal torment, of endless hunger . . . of dark, dangerous desires. And somehow American surgeon Shea O'Halloran could feel his anguish, sense his haunting aloneness, and she ached to heal him, to heal herself.
Drawn to the far Carpathian mountains, Shea found a ravaged, raging man, a being like no other. And her soul trembled. For in his burning eyes, his icy heart, she recognized the beloved stranger who'd already become part of her. The imperious Carpathian male had compelled Shea to his side. But was she to be his healer. . . or his prey? His victim . . . or his mate? Was he luring her into madness . . . or would his dark desire make her whole?
Ok this book was better than the first one, I really enjoyed Jacques' story. He is the younger brother of the Dark Prince, Mikhail and is also a hunter. Years after Mikhail's story Jacques finds himself back in the Carpathian Mountains where he is kidnapped and buried alive. He finds a mind path to Shea while she is over in the United States. Shea has always been different and when she feels the stranger in her mind she ignores him as much as she can. Years later she finds herself drawn to the Carpathian Mountains but she is also being hunted by the same human hunters that are hunting the Carpathians. She is pulled to Jacques and pulls him out of his early grave. He has no memory of his past but he does know Shea. Together they heal each other and fall in love. Other Carpathians show up once they realize Jacques is really alive. A betrayer of their own kind is who hired the humans to torture and bury Jacques. When the truth finally comes out it is devastating news to Shea and Jacques both.  My Rating: 4.5

Christine Feehan- Dark Prince (book 1)

He came to her in the night, a predator -- strength and power chiseled his features. The seduction was deep and elemental; he affected her soul. His need. His darkness. His terrible haunting loneliness. Her senses aroused, she craved the dangerous force of his body. Burned for him. And he had only touched her with his mind.  She came to him at dawn, his bleakest hour. As the beast raged inside him, threatening to consume him, he vented his centuries-old despair in an anguished cry that filled the waning night. And she answered, a ray of light, piercing his darkness. A beautiful angel. Her compassion, courage, and innocence awakened in him an exquisite longing and tenderness. He knew he must possess her, for only she could tame his savage side and lift the dark shadow from his soul. Apart they were desolate, bereft. Intertwined physically and spiritually, they could heal one another and experience an eternity of nights filled with love.
My Thoughts: I'm not going to say I was impressed with this book, it was ok, I mean it kept my attention BUT it jumped around a lot. One minute the main characters are talking to each other then bam they are answering questions from each others heads. Mikhail is sitting at his desk contemplating his life and how he thinks it is time to end his life and Raven jumps into his mind telling him not to do it that he has a lot to live for, then one day later they are bonded and living together and can't be without each other for long. She is human and he is Carpathian who lives off of blood and he can shape-shift into any animal. They are both telepathic and can communicate only through their thoughts plus she is able to communicate with every other member of his family or pack of whatever they call themselves. If a Carpathian kills a human while they feed they turn into a vampire so of course you have a bad vampire in the book who goes after Raven. I just don't know what else to say about this series- I will read book two though to see if I like the series any better. My Rating: 3

Lynsay Sands- Born to Bite (book 14)

Eshe d’Aureus is sent to Armand Argeneau under the auspice that she needs a safe place to hide from a rogue out for revenge, but Eshe is really on the job. She's been saddled with the task of finding out why Armand's wives keep dying, and what it has to do with his son Nicholas and the murder Nicholas is accused of committing 50 years ago. She's Nicholas's only hope of avoiding being executed for a murder he may or may not have committed. Eshe's agreed to take on the task, but that was before she realized she couldn't read Armand and he is the life mate she's been waiting for.
Armand Argeneau’s first sight of Eshe was her roaring up on a motorcycle that appeared to be aflame. That was inconspicuous?! She had the grace of a panther, the attitude of a pit bull and openly enjoyed thwarting Lucian’s orders whenever possible . . . all of which delighted him immensely . . . until he realized he couldn't read the woman and she might be a life mate. Having already lost a life mate and two wives to suspicious circumstances, Armand isn't willing to risk losing another. Unfortunately, sending her away was pretty difficult when he couldn't keep his thoughts, not to mention his hands, off her. It seems it's time to once again try to get to the bottom of the deaths of his first three wives. While Armand's tried before, he's also failed, but this time he could lose his son as well as his life mate.
My Thoughts: I love this series, it's always at the top my favorite list. Eshe was not my favorite female of this series but I certainly liked Armand. He has been mentioned in a few other books. He is the father of Nicholas, Thomas and Jeanne Louise but has stayed away from them for years. Armand had one life mate who was Nicholas' mother but was married twice after she died to two other woman who gave him the other two children. All of his previous wives have died in freak accidents and his daughter-in-law also died in what they thought was accident. Lucian sent Eshe to question Armand about the deaths and to see if they can prove that he had nothing to do with the deaths. Turns out that Eshe and Armand are life mates and this is where things turn for both of their lives. My very favorite vampire in this series makes an appearance and he just made the book for me. With them all working together they find out the truth about all the deaths that have plagued Armand is entire adult life. The end of the book was fantastic and I cried like a baby. like always I am looking forward to the next book. My Rating: 4.5

She escaped and was chased by slayers and was saved by Donovan who wasn't looking for a destined mate, but would protect her with his life. The slayers want humans as their slaves so they will do anything to hurt their progress for a better world. Alex was smart she had one of her first prototypes hidden and she knew she had to get there to build it again, with Donovan's help she was sure she could get there. Once at her brother's overly secure home she was able to start to rebuild then the rest of the Pry showed up to help protect the invention. Sadly with one of the battles over the machine Donovan's brother Delaney was nearly killed and his body was stolen. Only to be seen again as a Shadow Dragon. Slayers can bring fallen Dragons back from the dead as long as their bodies have been exposed to the 4 elements water, air, earth and fire by forcing them to drink Dragon's blood elixir. Which makes them mindless and almost unstoppable. Donovan needs to be sure his brother can't be saved before destroying him. Noticing sparks on his true brother whenever he was close to Donovan and Alex Firestorm, All Pry and slayers can feel the pull of it. Will it save Delaney? Will the green machine ever be finished? Will Donovan and Alex succumb to the firestorm? My Rating: 4

Larissa Ione- Sin Undone (book 5)

HER TOUCH IS DEADLY
As the only female Seminus demon ever born, master assassin Sinead Donnelly is used to being treated like an outcast. She spent decades enslaved, and now vows she’ll die before she’ll relinquish her freedom again. Then Sin’s innate ability to kill her enemies goes awry: She creates a lethal new werewolf virus that sparks a firestorm of panic and violence.
HIS HUNGER CAN’T BE DENIED
Half-werewolf, half-vampire Conall Dearghul is charged with bringing in Sin to face punishment for the plague. And she’s no stranger: He’s bound to her by blood, and the one sexual encounter they shared has left him hungering for her raw sensuality. Worse, Sin is the underworld’s most wanted and Con soon learns he’s the only one who can help her . . . and that saving her life might mean sacrificing his own.
My Thoughts:  Well I'm not having the best time finding a female lead character I like lately (ok well except one a few weeks ago) Not saying I did not like Sin, it's just I thought she whined too much and thought she was tougher than she really was BUT on that note she was tough and had a lot to whine about but didn't mean she should push everyone away. Now on the other hand Conall was fantastic- absolutely loved him. Con is a paramedic at UG and was bet by Luc that he could not have sex with her not knowing that she was a succubus demon and she would have sex with him anyway. Throughout this book Con and Sin fought against what they both really wanted, he finally got her to break down and show her feelings. With enemies after them both they had to stay together to protect the ones they loved. War was starting between the born wargs and the turned wargs due to Sin and her "gift". At the end of the book (the last book in this series) so many things came together but a few things were left open and I hope she answers them in the new series that the Demonica characters are supposed to make a few appearances in. My Rating: 4
