Nina Bangs- Eternal Pleasure (book 1)

This is a new series for me I have been planning to read for a while. It's very Different from anything I read before.. Which I like a whole lot.

Ty has been taking a 65 million year nap, with only one voice filling him in on what he is to become now. Before Ty went to sleep so long ago he was a Tyrannosaurus Rex or T-Rex for short. So all the things the Voice is telling him is new about the world, he had to learn he was now human with the soul of a T-Rex. But also he had to behave as a human would. But when he was fighting evil his T-Rex soul would enclose him with his human body in the middle and he would be come the T-Rex. He learned that the voice was Fin. He had the idea he knew Fin from the past but every time he tried to remember it would hurt. Fin had raised the 11 souls he saved 65 million years ago for this day. There are evil immortals that can only try to take over the world every so many years. And Fin and the Eleven have been fighting them back. But Fin has cleared their memories of any past lives besides their dinosaur one. Fin hires drivers for The Eleven and that's when Ty meets Kelly he feels a draw to her right away. But all Kelly feels is an uncontrollable fear and a need to run like she is prey. Ty being a T-Rex sees her has a quick mating like he did as a T-Rex. But soon learns that his human feelings need more. Fin finds out of his feelings for Kelly and tries to scare Ty from asking her to do what all Mates of the Eleven must do. She must walk into the heart of the beast, see all his past lives and take a piece of his soul which will make her immortal like him and bond them for life. But Fins tells Ty most woman can't handle what they see and come out no longer loving the man. Will Kelly be strong enough to take a piece of his soul? Will Fin allow it ?

Patricia Briggs- River Marked (book 6)

Let me just start by saying I have loved this series from the beginning and that did not change with this book, even though I thought this one was very different from the other five in the series. In the previous books there has always been a lot of different characters filling the pages with Mercy and I have liked them all. A few of the same characters are in this book and she introduces new ones, I like the new Native American characters from this book too. Mercy is a half human, half shifter that can shape shift into a coyote but let me tell you she also has a few other things thrown into her mix. This strong, independent woman has been a favorite female character of mine for years and she just keeps getting better. She is a college educated woman who by choice works as a VW mechanic in her own shop. The ranking of shifters is pretty extraordinary in this series, not many series I've read let other shifters into their packs. Mercy was raised by werewolves but she was given to them by her mother when she was small. When she moves to the Tri-Cites area she has to register with the local werewolf pack who is lead by Adam. There is so much I can say about Adam but I will leave it all for you to read and find out on your own. He is definitely Alpha!!  So for years they have been flirty & fighting neighbors but in the last book they finally started dating. In this book they get married and just about the entire book takes place on their honeymoon. (I would have liked a little more sex in this book lol especially since they are on their honeymoon) Like I said before this book is so different from the others in the series but that doesn't make it a bad book, the love and chemistry between Adam and Mercy is fantastic. When the action gets going and things get dangerous for Mercy, Adam opens his heart to how much he really loves her and how he knows he can not make it without her. The authors writing is humorous where it needs to be and serious where it needs to be, lets just say Adam's comments about WalMart are pretty funny. I was disappointed when I finished the book and not because of the story but because it was over and I wanted more. I look forward to the next book!!!

Jeaniene Frost - At Grave's End (book 3)

It should be the best time of half-vampire Cat Crawfield's life. With her undead lover Bones at her side, she's successfully protected mortals from the rogue undead. But though Cat's worn disguise after disguise to keep her true identity a secret from the brazen bloodsuckers, her cover's finally been blown, placing her in terrible danger. As if that wasn't enough, a woman from Bones's past is determined to bury him once and for all. Caught in the crosshairs of a vengeful vamp, yet determined to help Bones stop a lethal magic from being unleashed, Cat's about to learn the true meaning of bad blood. And the tricks she's learned as a special agent won't help her. She will need to fully embrace her vampire instincts in order to save herself—and Bones—from a fate worse than the grave.
The third urban fantasy romance for the Night Huntress series cultivates an expanding plot with several new characters and appealing sub-stories. While Cat and Bones lead the way with their powerful personalities, captivating newcomers increase the intensity so you never want to put this book down. Plainly, as the story grows, so do many of the wonderful characters. Diverting twists grab you attention, while a new door to the undead world is revealed. Forbidden black magic swirls this adventure as a foreseen war in the paranormal world commences. Lines are now drawn and sides must be chosen. Joined family bloodlines shift and a transfer of power pull Bones and Cat to the front for all to see.

Jennifer Ashley- Primal Bonds (book 2)

When half-Fae, half-Shifter Andrea Gray flees an abusive would-be mate, the only way she is allowed to relocate to the Austin Shiftertown is if a Shifter there claims her as mate.
Sean Morrissey, the Guardian of his clan and all of Shiftertown, is mateless, lonely, and has a tough job--to send the souls of deceased Shifters into the afterworld. He volunteers to claim her, sight unseen, but doesn't realize that one look at the gray-eyed, dark-haired Andrea will stir the mating frenzy in him. Even though the mate-claim isn't finalized, official, or yet blessed, Sean will do anything to get Andrea into his life and keep her there, forever.
Oh how I have waited for this book ever since I read the first one, everyone that knows me knows that Liam's book, the first in the series, was one of my top three books last year. I can't really explain what I like most about this series, might be how the author writes, might be the sexy men or it just might be that the women are strong but still soft and likeable. Maybe it's just a combination of everything that makes me love them so much. I for one do not like a female lead that thinks she is so tough that she could kick anyone's ass at any time and never gives into her fears or even what her heart is feeling and you do not get that in this book with Andrea.  I liked Sean in the first book and he is high up on my list of favorite sexy men, even coming close to Liam, but of course never passing him. Sean doesn't beat around the bush telling Andrea exactly what he wants or even how he feels. When he opens his heart about Kenny and cries, boy the author nailed the feelings in that scene. To say I was shocked on who one of the bad guys was is an understatement- never saw it coming haha. The bond the Morrissey family has is fantastic, I personally love how JA uses the rubbing, hugging and touching to relate their feelings to each other, even while in human form, just like wild cats really do. Yes I would be ok with any of the Morrissey men rubbing against me. I was a little heartbroken with Dylan in this book and hope to some day read a book or even anthology about him. With the Morrissey pack tall, dark haired and blue eyed with Irish accents I can safely say that these shifters are on the top of my book boyfriends list. Andrea is a woman who once she opens her heart and mind knows clearly what she wants and has no problem defending it or him. I liked the Fae part of this book and hope to read more about them in the furture.
My Rating: 5 +++

Keri Arthur- Moon Sworn (book 9)

In the ninth and final entry in Arthur's deservedly popular Guardian series (after 2009's Bound to Shadows), a strong start and a terrific ending are poorly served by a disjointed middle. As series heroine Riley Jensen, a part-vampire/part-werewolf investigator, tries to find the perpetrator of a series of ritualistic murders, she must cope with her ever-changing biology and the knowledge that she killed her soul mate. She begins to contemplate leaving her job and shacking up with Quinn, her centuries-old vampire lover. Then a longstanding enemy destroys Quinn's car—with Quinn in it—and Riley's world goes black. She awakens with amnesia and struggles to regain her identity in a lengthy section that reads like an excerpt from a different book and leaves little room for resolving the series, a decision that will sorely disappoint Arthur's fans.
This is the last book in the series and that made me very sad, but it had to end sometime. Riley is recovering from her werewolf half's broken heart, with Quinn by her side. She has decided that she needs to leave the Directorate and Quinn has offered to help. But of course, the unexpected happens. Riley is forced off the road in her car and Quinn's car is crushed to pieces (with him in it). Riley's former pack member, out for revenge, kidnaps her and she wakes up with amnesia in the desert. She doesn't know who she is, but her "brother" is there to help her in any way possible. This was one of my favorite books because it was so different from the others. As with all books of this nature, there is light at the end of her black tunnel and everything ends happily ever after.

Keri Arthur- Bound to Shadows (book 8)

Part vampire, part werewolf, Riley Jenson knows what can happen when vamps don’t play well with others. But she’s never seen anything like this: a series of brutal murders surrounding the latest hot spot for vampire-human hookups—and the victims aren’t just killed, they’re beheaded. Now Riley is launching into action, toying with a seductive—and highly suspicious—club owner, and finding herself in the middle of another mystery: women being killed one by one, without a trace of violence.
For Riley, solving multiple cases—in a world going mad with human and vampire passions—would have been tough enough. Instead she has two jealous lovers on her hands: Kye Murphy, the amber-eyed werewolf who makes Riley’s wolf blood howl—and Quinn, the cool, elegant vamp who has over a thousand years’ experience at fulfilling women’s desires. While she’s busy juggling these two sexy beasts, Riley’s detective work takes a stunningly violent turn. Finding a murderer is now a matter of life and death. Especially since the killer has long since found her . . .
Riley tries to uncover who is beheading local vampires and killing women who are addicted to being bitten by vampires. Blood whores, they call them. The focus of this book is more on Riley's love life with Quinn and her soulmate than the plot. Riley and Quinn's relationship has matured since the last book and she's committed to the love she feels for Quinn but that did not stop her from accepting Kye as her soulmate in the last book. I'm still a little thrown off by that, since Riley HATES Kye and everything that he stands for. Kye turns out to be a cold-hearted killer in this book, which was surprising since he wasn't portrayed like that in the previous books. He is demanding that Riley run off with him, but of course she thinks that is just crazy, but then he starts threatening her "pack" and she must make the hardest decision she has ever had to make.

Keri Arthur- Deadly Desire (book 7)

Guardian Riley Jenson always seems to face the worst villains. And this time’s no different. For it’s no ordinary sorceress who can raise the dead to do her killing. But that’s exactly what Riley expects to find at the end of a trail of female corpses used—and discarded—in a bizarre ritual of evil. With pressure mounting to catch one fiend, another series of brutal slayings shocks the vampire world of her lover, Quinn. So the last thing Riley needs is the heat of the upcoming full moon bringing her werewolf hormones to a boil—or the reappearance of a sexy bounty hunter, the rogue wolf Kye Murphy.
Riley has threatened Murphy with arrest if he doesn’t back off the investigation, but it’s Riley who feels handcuffed by Kye’s lupine charm. Torn between her vamp and wolf natures, between her love for Quinn and her hots for Kye, Riley knows she’s courting danger and indulging the deadliest desires. For her hunt through the supernatural underworld will bring her face-to-face with what lurks in a darkness where even monsters fear to tread.
Riley is investigating not just a series of vampire killings (vampires being the ones killed) but also a series of zombie killings (the zombies are doing the killing) right in the middle of a full moon. Riley gets herself into trouble and runs into Kye Murphy again. She is trying to juggle time with her again lover Quinn and her job and is actually doing a pretty good job. But Kye is a road block that keeps popping up, getting Riley's hormones all riled up. Riley finds what is supposed to be her dream in this book, but not in the form she would have liked.

Keri Arthur- The Darkest Kiss (book 6)

Vampire hunter Riley Jenson returns to take on two serial killers: one kills high society women and the men in their lives; the other kills seemingly unrelated people, gruesomely. Riley has her own problems: she can't sense the spirits of the dead at the murder scenes, and she's nursing a broken heart. The more investigating Riley does, the more she realizes that her brother's lover may be in danger, and the reappearance of Quinn O'Connor, a vampire that she loved and lost, complicates matters further. The paranormal Australia that Arthur concocts works perfectly, and the plot speeds along at a breakneck pace. Riley fans won't be disappointed.
In this book, Riley explores her newly discovered bird shifting ability, however not quite getting the hand of flying. She is guarding her broken heart closely since her Kellen left her -- she's also abstaining from sex, except during the full moon. Non-stop action as Riley is assigned to track down the killer in a high profile murder of a shapeshifter politician. Riley is also asked by Shadow, the owner of a shifter strip club, to look into the death of a friend that the authorities classified as an accidental death due to BDSM gone wrong. Riley feels that she's dealing with two serial killers and while it doesn't take her long to figure out the identity of the killers, stopping them is not going to be as easy. Both are powerful entities. Riley has really grown into the Guardian role in this book.

Keri Arthur- Embraced by Darkness (book 5)

Part vamp, part werewolf, Riley Jenson plays by her own rules, whether it’s her stormy love life or her job as a guardian. But when her family’s alpha male demands that she solve the mystery of a vanished girl, Riley can feel a trap closing in around her. Because the job comes with a catch: if Riley fails, her own mother will die.
Now the stakes are raised, the hunt is on...and when more women vanish, Riley is caught between a lover who demands that she give up her work, a serial killer who knows no boundaries, and a club where humans and supernaturals mix—at their own peril. Thrust into a realm of seduction and violence unlike any she could have imagined, Riley has to battle to save everything she holds dear. But the ultimate hunt has only just begun....
There is more focus on plot and character and less emphasis in this book. The book starts with Riley on vacation on an island to recover from all the events of the last year. She is contacted there by a member of her former pack who demands that she looks into the disappearance of a pack member, Adrienne, and threatens to hurt her mother if she doesn't. Shortly afterwards the Directorate ask her to look into the strange murder of a woman who appears to have been torn limb from limb by her fiancé. Riley works on both investigations at the same time, also finding herself under attack from an unknown, dealing with old memories from her pack and trying to make sense of her relationship with Kellen who wants to 'go solo'. Riley is unsure if she can "go solo" and obviously still has feelings for Quinn (who doesn't appear in this book after what happened in the last book). I was very upset at how this book ended, but since I've read the entire series, I'm understand why it had to end this way.

Keri Arthur- Dangerous Games (book 4)

In Melbourne’s urban underworld, there’s a nightclub for every fantasy and desire. But for Riley Jenson, one such club has become an obsession. Riley, a rare hybrid of vampire and werewolf, hasn’t come in pursuit of pleasure but of an unknown killer who’s been using the steamy nightspot as his hunting grounds.
Leave it to Riley to find the only ticket into the heavily guarded club: Jin, a deliciously hot-bodied bartender who might just provide the key to unmasking a killer unlike any other in the Directorate’s experience. Taunted by a former colleague turned rogue, distracted by an ex-lover’s attentions, Riley follows Jin into a realm of pleasure she could never have imagined. And as danger and passion ignite, a shocking mystery begins to unravel—one where Riley herself becomes the ultimate object of desire....
In this book Riley hunts a serial killer who isn't from this time or place. She must struggle to stay alive, and also battle her desire for her on again off again lover Quinn. This time her vampire lover may have crossed a line, and a tough decision is going to be made. This story does seem to drift a little - almost like the author had to come up with a story and threw a bunch of ideas in a bowl. But still entertaining, leaving you wanting to read the next book.

Keri Arthur- Tempting Evil (book 3)

In a world of sorcery and seduction, the nights bring out the beautiful, the damned, and the desired. Here, Riley Jenson is on her own–half werewolf, half vampire, working for an organization created to police the supernatural races. Trusting her superiors and lovers barely more than she trusts her worst enemies, Riley plays by her own set of rules. Her latest mission: to enter the heavily guarded pleasure palace of a criminal named Deshon Starr–a madman-scientist who’s been messing around in the gene pool for decades.
With two sexy men–a cool, seductive vampire and an irresistibly hot wolf–vying for her attention, Riley must keep focused. Because saving the world from Deshon Starr will mean saving herself–from the trap that’s closing in around her. . . .
There is more substance and action in this book. In the previous book Riley discovered she was injected with a drug to enhance her fertility, but that the drug can cause major problems. Because of that she is now almost a full Guardian having to choose between becoming a Guardian or the military. She needs to be constantly monitored for any changes in her abilities due to the drug. Riley excepts the fact that she will soon become a Guardian, and goes undercover in Starr’s pleasure compound as a fighter to try and take out Starr and his followers. Down to only 2 lovers now, Quinn and Kellen vie for her heart. One has an issue with werewolves, and does not agree to their lifestyle (many lovers which is the werewolf way), the other has an issue with her job, but doesn’t quite realize it yet in this book. A new ally is made in this book.

Keri Arthur- Kissing Sin (book 2)

From Melbourne’s gleaming skyscrapers to its throbbing nightclubs, Riley Jenson’s world is raging with danger and desire. A drop-dead-gorgeous werewolf–with a touch of vamp coursing in her blood–Riley works for an organization created to police the supernatural races. But when she wakes up naked and bruised in a barren alley, she knows only that she must run for her life.  Within moments Riley collides with the sexiest man she’s ever seen: steely, seductive Kade, who is fighting a life-and-death battle of his own. With old lovers and enemies gathering around her, Riley knows she is being pursued by a new kind of criminal. Because in Riley’s blood is a secret that could create the ultimate warrior–if only she can survive her own dangerous desires….
Kissing Sin is full of twists and turns. The book starts off with Riley waking up in breeding pens made of silver. While escaping the pens, she meets a new lover, Kade (a horse shifter), who escapes with her. The Directorate believes someone is trying to create an army of super-beings, mixing the DNA of other shifters and nonhumans and the Directorate want’s Riley’s help. Riley, however, has adamantly stated that she does not ever want to become a Guardian like her brother, but is thrown into the mix anyway. Riley’s vampire half is starting to come to the forefront in this book, making her already there fertility problems worse. Aside from helping the Directorate, Riley must juggle 4 lovers - a vampire with werewolf issues, a werewolf who is starting to raise Riley's eyebrows, an alpha werewolf and a horse-shifter. Drama, Drama, Drama!

Jeaniene Frost - Halfway to the Grave (book 1)

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father – the one responsible for ruining her mother’s life. Then she’s captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership. In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She’s amazed she doesn’t end up as his dinner – are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn’t have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side … and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.
Before beginning this story I casually ask a few people at work if they had ever read the series with the main characters being,... Cat and Bones. Raised eyebrow and bulging eyeballs along with facial expressions saying "have you been living on Mars" told me I have missed out on a series I needed to start right away. After finishing the first installment I can understand why people looked at me like I had a horn coming out of the top of my head. HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE not only brings two individuals together, (hoping they will be HEA) the events surrounding their cause mushroom with long standing issues from the undead world whipping this into a great read. Cat is an amateur vampire slayer that is interesting, funny, and very unsure of her inter feelings. I don't feel she truly sees herself for what she really is until she meets Bones. He is tall, blond, dangerous, sexy, hot, extraordinary, romantic, powerful, enticing and just plain yummy. Yet, the biggest word to describe him has to be mysterious. A lot of inquisitive questions concerning this charming hunk are not exposed in the first book. Yes, we know how he became a vampire but after that, his life is a blank. There has to be a past to bring him to the present as a vampire bounty hunter. Hopefully more will be revealed in ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE.

Jeaniene Frost- On Foot in the Grave (book 2)

Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She’s still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.Being around Bones awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline rush of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head – wanted: dead or half-alive – means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard Cat tries to keep things professional between them, she’ll find that desire lasts forever … and Bones won’t let her get away again.
This imaginative story line wickedly scoops you right back into the second book of the series, even though four years has passed for Cat and Bones. The shielded love in Cat's heart comes to the surface as she is about to initiate the fatal twist to a staked vampire. As she realizes it is Ian, ( friend and sire of Bones) Cat lets him get away from death and the agency she now leads. With time, the slaying reputation she builds brings her the new title, "Red Reaper" as well as a price on her head from an anonymous source. With hit men closing in, a close team member is killed and Bones appears with a promises to help find the answers Cat needs, along with a second chance for their love. On a personal note, the greatest quote in the book comes from Cat. "Once you go dead, no one is better in bed." Wendy told me before I started this series to remember, "book number 2, chapter 32". Grab your hot mitts from the kitchen to hold on while you read this scorching hot, exotic fang fantasy scene. I swear I saw flames shooting out around the sides of my kindle a time or two.
