Sherrilyn Kenyon - Born of Night (The League - Book 1)

In the Ichidian Universe, The League and their ruthless assassins rule all. Expertly trained and highly valued, the League Assassins are the backbone of the government. But not even the League is immune to corruption . . .Command Assassin Nykyrian Quikiades once turned his back on the League—and has been hunted by them ever since. Though many have tried, none can kill him or stop him from completing his current mission: to protect Kiara Zamir, a woman whose father’s political alliance has made her a target. As her world becomes even deadlier, Kiara must entrust her life to the same kind of beast who once killed her mother and left her for dead. Old enemies and new threaten them both and the only way they can survive is to overcome their suspicions and learn to trust in the very ones who threaten them the most: each other.
The League series, is a sci-fi and fantasy mix with a box full of action, suspense, betrayal, trust and love from the soul. Although the two main characters in the first book are great , the sub character are well established and add spice to the rolling pages. The past and ugly scars that torment the emotions of the characters in this story, and how they overcome their dark burdens are defiantly a Kenyon trademark that we all love. A few times an event made me shake my head and feel as if it had just been tweaked a bit it would have been more in tune. While it hasn't captured me completely as the Dark Hunter series has, I am truly looking forward to getting my nose into the second installment of the series. If you are a Sherrilyn Kenyon fan, don't hesitate to give this a try, you won't be disappointed. My Rating - 3 Shonna

Laura Wright- Eternal Kiss (book 2)

Raised by the Breed, Nicholas Roman wants to stop the Eternal Order of Vampires from controlling his life, and using other males from his bloodline-including possibly his son-for their vicious reign. Only a beautiful vampire stranger can help him. But what are her true motives?
Nicholas Roman is the second Roman brother, he is the dark haired, black eyed middle brother who in his younger days before Lucian found him, was working as a whore. Now that he is living in New York with his older brother, Alexander and younger brother, Lucian, whom both think he gave up his job as a whore years many years before but learn from Dare that he has continued to sale his body the entire time. Dare is an evil, Impureblood vampire who is trying to build his own Impureblood army to take over the Pureblood vampires who he thinks mistreat the lower class Impurebloods. But Dare's strings are being pulled by a bigger more powerful being and the Roman brothers are out to find out who or what is wanting to start a war between the two breeds of vampires. The Eternal Order of Vampires sent Nicholas into his Morpho early, so they can have more control over him. Morpho is when a male Pureblood comes into his true mature vampire form, he becomes unable to be in the sun and also has to find his True Mate. The Roman brothers are all three males whose father is the Breeding Male, a Morpho male who impregnates any and all females that he wants and is able to control the sex of the child. The other vampires consider the Breeding Male and the offspring's to be dirty.
Kate is a Pureblood female, called a Veana, who has spent the last 10 years in a vampire prison for a crime she did not commit. While on last few months of her prison term, she was working in a Credenti, a vampire community, at a local school for young kids. While Kate was waiting with a small boy, Ladd, whose mother was running late, a horrible murder occurs. Ladd's mother showed up to get him but Dare flashed in behind her and slit her throat right in front of Kate and Ladd. Dare flashed away leaving Kate with the boy and his dying mother, who told Kate about the boys father. Kate escapes the Credenti to take Ladd to Nicholas who she was told was his father. Nicholas meets Kate thinking he is meeting someone else, his feelings for her are almost instant but he fights them knowing that she would never want a whore for a mate. I feel like I have already given so much of this story away so I am going to leave it with this- I LOVED this book, I just wanted to crawl right into the pages and hold Nicky, cuddle Nicky, rock Nicky, stroke his hair and to whisper too him that he is not dirty and he deserves love- true love, someone that will love him for him and not for what he felt he had to do in the past. There are so many twist and turns in this book that it held my attention so much I didn't want to put it down to go to sleep or even to go to work. Ohh and the snippet we get of Lucian and his story makes me wish it was 2012 already!!

Sophie Renwick- Velvet Haven (book 1)

Hidden from mortals for all eternity, Annwyn, the Otherworld, is home to shapeshifters, wraiths and dragons. But in a nightclub called Velvet Haven, desire brings humans and immortals together… Built atop the mystic passageway to Annwyn, the gothic nightclub Velvet Haven has seen its share of lost souls—both mortal and immortal. It is here that Bran, the shapeshifter king of the Sidhe, searches for his brother, who is ensnared by a centuries-old curse. When a vision foretells his own death, he knows his time to find Carden is running out. For help he must turn to Mairi, a mortal woman with an unusual aura. Bran has never liked humans, other than using their sexual pleasure to restore his magic energy. But with Mairi everything is different. Her lush curves and teasing caresses enflame him like no Sidhe has ever done. He has no idea that the woman he’s falling for holds the key to his destruction – or his salvation.
In the beginning there was peace. Prosperity. The fertile lands of Annwyn flourished with life; the trees, bountiful, bearing the most luscious of fruit. The forest teemed with life, and the streams ran cool and clear. The people of Annwyn lived harmoniously side by side; the gossamer veil that separated the two spheres allowed its inhabitants to see the mortal realm, yet protected us from man’s poisonous ways. Greed. Lust. Avarice. None of the mortal vices penetrated through the veil, for Annwyn was above all temptations. But now all has been transformed. Annwyn is no longer pure. I taste the changes in the mist which echoes through the now empty forest. I hear it whispered through the fog that shrouds the trees that no longer bear fruit. I feel it on my skin as I wash with waters that no longer run clear. The dark times have arrived. The time has come for war to be waged between man and the inhabitants of Annwyn. They seek a flame and an amulet, hidden away for centuries. Depending on whose hands shall fall these artifacts, will dictate what will come—peace or annihilation. These dark times will see betrayals, deaths, utter blackness before the dawn of light might once again creep between the trees of the forest. And during these dark times the sacred number nine will emerge, bringing with it the beginning and ending of all things. But there will be one among them, a Dark Soul, whose rise shall either be that of savior, or destroyer. Bran is told by Calleach about the dark times. He is to go to the mortal realm to Velvet Haven to find the Dark Mage. But when Bran goes to the mortal realm his power weakens and he has to sleep with a female to regain his powers. He sees Mairi at the club and she has an unusual aura. Just being near her gives him some powers and he doesn't know why. But Bran knows that he only wants her. But Bran knows that a woman will kill him for he has seen it. He just doesn't know who and when. Will Mairi be his destruction or will she be the salvation. I love this series the characters are great and the story plot is very good.

Gena Showalter- The Darkest Secret (book 7)

Keeper of the demon of Secrets, Amun can manipulate the darkest thoughts of anyone nearby. But when new demons possess him, the immortal warrior must be chained and isolated to protect those he loves. Death is his only hope of release—until he meets Haidee, a fellow prisoner whose beauty and hidden vulnerability draw him into a reckless test of his loyalty…. Haidee is an infamous demon assassin, raised to despise Amun’s kind. Yet how can she hate the man whose touch sets her aflame? But to save him, she must give herself body and soul…and face the wrath of a powerful adversary sworn to destroy her.
The Lords of the Underworld series is one of my favorite series out there. This series has everything you could possibly want in a Paranormal Romance series but this book left me wanting more. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book but it just was not god enough to be a stand out in this fabulous series. I don't know if it was Amun or Haidee or the combination of the two of them together. Amun is the keeper of the demon, Secrets, he is the Lord that does not talk because when he opens his mouth every ones deepest darkest secrets come out. He can hear thoughts or well his demon can so his friends have to be on guard around him or he will know everything they are thinking. Most of the Lords don't have big roles in this book, unlike some of the other books we only hear a few things about them or from them. This book has a lot of Amun and Haidee questioning each other, their feelings for each other and honestly everything else around them. It was just too many questions and going back and forth for me to get really into the story. I love a HEA as much as the next girl but this one did not really impress me. And I LOVE her writing, but I was not feeling this book. Amun communicated with Haidee by talking with his mind and she is the first and only person to ever be able to hear him, he uses sign language to communicate with the other Lords. There are a few great scenes in this book and of course some funny moments but overall I liked it, just didn't love it like I did all the others in this series. Strider is next and I am looking forward to his story but not as much as the next book, finally Paris will have his HEA-- well hopefully!

Chloe Lang- Wilde Fire (book 2)

Wilde, Nevada is proving to be more troubling than Jessie imagined, when, just as she falls for one hot cowboy, feelings also spring up for his brother Phoenix. Though it’s crazy and not without risk, she can’t help but welcome his possessive embrace.
Phoenix knows she’s the woman for him─and his four brothers. But there are those in Wilde who want to destroy them. Phoenix must win Jessie’s love, or they might lose their hearts and their lives.
Jessie thinks she is going crazy falling not for one but two of the Wilde brothers. While Jackson is away he encourages her to spend time with Phoenix, which she does. Phoenix and brother, Dallas, teach Jessie how to be obedient to them when they take her to a big oak tree outside of Wilde.
The danger that is lurking around each corner for Jessie hasn’t stopped either. It has just escalated. I can’t wait for the next book and the next book and so on to come out.

Chloe Lang- Going Wilde (book 1)

(The Brothers of Wilde, Nevada) [Erotic Contemporary Ménage Romance, M/F/M/M/M/M] Jessie never imagined she would find anything special in remote Wilde, Nevada. She's come to do her job, not to get involved with a man, much less some of the hottest cowboys she's ever seen. The five Wilde brothers are everything a woman could want. But Wilde has its secrets, and one of them could be deadly.
The minute Jackson Wilde sees Jessie he knows she's the one for him and his four brothers, Phoenix, Dallas, Denver, and Austin. The gorgeous city girl calls to him like no one before, but she's convinced she doesn't belong in a place like Wilde. With danger lurking around every corner, Jackson will have to prove that she's finally come home.
Okay, so I started this book because maybe since I haven’t been sexually active in the last 9 months (even though I’m in a relationship) I needed something to take the edge off. Well, this series certainly has done that. I am one of those people that really doesn't like to read about a lot of sex in books. I guess I just want a really good story. Don’t get me wrong sex is great (if you are getting it! Hahaha) The moment I opened the book I was hooked…line….and sinker. I have NEVER put myself into the main character’s place in any of the stories I’ve read. This time I did. It was a wonderful ride . You will need to read these books in order.
The town of Wilde, Nevada has a secret but people from out of town don’t know unless they settle down there. Even though it’s polygamy, I didn’t see it that way. To me it was a reverse of polygamy. There are many husbands for one woman. Jessie, who works as a mine safety investigator and is from out of town is the unsuspecting target of the Wilde brothers passions. She has come to do a job but the brothers do a job on her, and trust me she enjoys every minute of it. The first brother that falls for her is Jackson.
You probably think that this book is all about sex. Yes and no. Believe it or not there IS a story included. Someone doesn’t want Jessie in town and one of the brothers isn’t really into the family’s lifestyle, and it’s up to the other brothers to change his mind about Jessie. Between all the romps in the hay, strange and violent things happen not just to Jessie but other people in Wilde, who work for the Wilde Family Mine.
If you are weak of heart and don’t want to have to get your vibrator out, then you may not want to read this series.

Enclave by Ann Aguirre

"New York City has been decimated by war and plague, and most of civilization has migrated to underground enclaves, where life expectancy is no more than the early 20's. When Deuce turns 15, she takes on her role as a Huntress, and is paired with Fade, a teenage Hunter who lived Topside as a young boy. When she and Fade discover that the neighboring enclave has been decimated by the tunnel monsters—or Freaks—who seem to be growing more organized, the elders refuse to listen to warnings. And when Deuce and Fade are exiled from the enclave, the girl born in darkness must survive in daylight, in the ruins of a city whose population has dwindled to a few dangerous gangs. As the two are guided by Fade’s long-ago memories, they face dangers, and feelings, unlike any they’ve ever known."

Jeaniene Frost - First Drop of Crimson ( Night Huntress World - Book 1 )

Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows – her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield – and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family’s dark past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness – and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who craves a taste of her. He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human – even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the demon nightmare together…Because once the first drop of crimson falls, they will both be lost.
Night Huntress World series is a sexy flowing spin-off from the well know Night Huntress stories containing our two loved characters, Bones and Cat. Although this could be considered a stand alone book, starting with the other series enhances the plane this story rests on. Focusing on Spade and Denise, romance conflicts slam a door that isn't easy for either one of them to open. Spade doesn't care for humans and grieves in his heart with guilt over the death of the only woman he has ever loved. Denise, although knowledgeable about the paranormal world shuns everything and everyone after the death of her husband in a supernatural battle. Forced to seek help after a demon comes to collect from a bargain made by one of Denise's ancestors, Spade steps in when she has no one else to turn to. Adding to this intriguing plot a mix of emotional connections, drama, action, and humorous wit, you have everything you want,....... except desert. Frost's famous passionate sizzle scenes top off the best menu you could ever put together.

Jeaniene Frost - Eternal Kiss of Darkness ( Night Huntress World - Book 2 )

Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she’s only imagined in her worst nightmares. At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master Vampire who thought he’d seen it all. Then Kira appears—this fearless, beautiful…human who braved death to rescue him. Though he burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life, yet sending her away is unthinkable. But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose between the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction.
This series is amazing! The Night Huntress World series achieves everything you could possibly want out of a book. The characters are well developed with their world encircling you with its power of putting you right there within the pages you are reading. I love it when the words of an author draw me in and have my undivided attention. When the laundry isn't done and it is Colonel Sanders for dinner two nights in a row my husband knows not to even try and have a conversation with me. I will never hear the words coming out of his mouth. Emotion, suspense, incredible sex scenes,.... let's slow down a moment here before we move on. My favorite quote is " After last night, Kira knew that his tongue felt like a vibrator set to the speed of Oh Hell Yeah." Jeaniene Frost has no problems putting into words arousing, steamy hot encounters that make you go back and read more than once. Who else would think of a fireworks moment taking place on the ceiling when it is all said and done. The action of the story rolls to a nail biting end, with a very important detail that brings the entire plot together, not revealed until the very last page.

Jeaniene Frost - This Side of the Grave (book 5)

Half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her vampire husband Bones have fought for their lives, as well as for their relationship. But just when they’ve triumphed over the latest battle, Cat’s new and unexpected abilities threaten to upset a long-standing balance…

Masterless vampires realize they are disappearing targets for a growing zealot of ghouls govern by the hushed name of Apollyon.Whispering rumors cause fear that a war is on the horizon between the sister species (vampires and ghouls) if the attacks continue. Pointing fingers accuse Cat to be the cause, as the only other half-breed to exist since the failure of her replica, Joan of Arc. Forced to the edge, Cat and Bones go to New Orleans to seek ally from the ruling ghoul, Marie Laveau. Along with the help of many outstanding subplot returning characters, this exceptionally notable series carries through with exploding activity and badass twists. The well established and maturing romance between Cat and Bones develops with a rich fullness with each passing chapter. Adding the ceaselessly witty words and genuinely sharp cutting edge (that lets you know life is not always fair), Frost stands on top with another illustrious addition to the Night Huntress series.
